Charleston came calling and handed Effingham St. Anthony two losses in girls junior high basketball action Thursday.

Charleston won the seventh-grade game 33-15. Taylor Beesley led the Bullpups with five points. St. Anthony drops to 1-3.

In eighth-grade play, Charleston was a 26-8 winner. Meg Richards scored four for St. Anthony which drops to 3-1.

At Effingham

Taylorville came calling and picked up two victories over Effingham. Taylorville was a 34-12 winner in seventh-grade action, stepping out to a 13-0 first quarter lead.

Effingham was led by Crowell and Krouse with four points each as the Mustangs dropped to 1-3.

In eighth-grade competition, Taylorville was a 29-27 winner. The Mustangs led 20-17 going into the final period when Taylorville rallied with a 12-7 run to pull out the victory. Fearday and Buscher led Effingham with six points each. The Mustangs drop to 3-1.

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart and Vandalia split victories. Vandalia was a 42-11 winner in the seventh-grade contest. C. Feldhake led Sacred Heart with seven points.

In eighth-grade action, the Shamrocks won 28-14. N. Carie tallied 18 points for the winners.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis downed Lawrenceville in both seventh and eighth grade action. T-town won the seventh-grade game 31-3 to improve to a perfect 4-0.

Olivia Niemerg and Karsyn Mette both had seven points each for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, T-town was a 26-11 winner for its first victory of the season with three losses. Savanna Gebben had six points for the winners.

T-town plays host to Marshall Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by Marshall taking on Central A&M at 12:30 and T-town finishing out with Central A&M at 3.

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor picked up double wins over Dieterich. SS/Windsor edged Dieterich 24-23 in the seventh-grade contest. Hayes led the winners with 10 points. Bierman led Dieterich with 14. SS/Windsor improved to 1-4.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras/Windsor won 34-13 to improve to 4-1. M. Schlechte and Tabbert tallied 12 points each. Vahling led Dieterich with six.

Sigel St. Michael picked up two victories over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick. St. Michael was a 32-27 winner in seventh-grade action. McWhorter tallied 11 for the winners. Lauren Wojcik had 14 for BCCH which drops to 3-3.

In eighth-grade play, St. Michael was a 32-18 winner. Krampe led with 12 and Bueker chipped in with 10. BCCH was led by Tabitha Endsley with nine. BCCH drops to 4-2.

Altamont split wins with Pana Thursday evening. Pana won the seventh-grade contest 30-24. Freeman scored 13 for the winners. Altamont was led by Guse with 13.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont won 29-19. Altamont held a 12-6 halftime lead and 20-11 going into the final quarter. Mette scored 15 for the winners.

Jasper County and Red Hill (Bridgeport) were both winners Thursday evening. Jasper County claimed the seventh-grade game 37-14. Josie Grunloh scored 11 for the winners.

In eighth-grade play, Red Hill won 25-23. Richards led Red Hill with 16 points. Mallory Bergbower led Jasper County with 13.
