LOUISVILLE -- Effingham Junior High School claimed two wins over North Clay (Louisville) in girls basketball competition Monday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game 22-14. Krouse had nine points for the winners. Bailey and Lovett scored six each for North Clay. Effingham is 1-2.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham was a 35-10 winner. Kuhlman tallied nine points as the Mustangs improved to 3-0.

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael and Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor split victories. St. Michael was a 31-16 winner in the seventh-grade game.

Niebrugge tallied 12 for the winners. Hayes and Bennett scored six each for Stew-Stras/Windsor which drops to 0-3.

In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras/Windsor was a 24-20 winner. Schlechte tallied 11. S. Bueker led St. Michael with eight. SS/Windsor improves to 2-1.

At Beecher City

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick claimed two victories over Nokomis. In the seventh-grade game, BCCH won 24-17. Lauren Wojcik tallied 14 as BCCH improved to 2-2.

In eighth-grade action, BCCH edged Nokomis 41-40 in double overtime. The score was tied at 28-28 after four quarters. In the first overtime, both teams tallied seven points before BCCH pulled out the iwn in the second overtime period.

Tabitha Endsley scored 18 and Grace Smith 14 for the winners who are now a perfect 4-0.

Teutopolis split with Mattoon in action Monday evening. T-town was a 30-13 winner in seventh-grade play.

Claire Bushur tallied 13 for the winners who improve to 2-0.

In eighth-grade competition, Mattoon won 28-22. Allie Niebrugge and Julia Frey scored six each for T-town who drops to 0-2.

Jasper County picked up a seventh-grade win while Cumberland captured the eighth-grade contest.

Jasper County won 51-7, stepping out to a 29-3 first half lead. Josie Grunloh tallied 17 points while Renae Russell added 10.

In eighth-grade action, Cumberland edged Jasper County 31-33. Cumberland held a 19-11 hafltime lead. Jasper County outscored Cumberland 20-14 in the second half only to fall short.

Alison Russell led Jasper County with 12 points while Mallory Bergbower scored 10. Napier led Cumberland with 15.

Dieterich and Oblong split wins in action Monday evening.

Dieterich claimed the seventh-grade contest 28-23. Bierman and Mahnke scored 11 points each for the winners.

In eighth-grade competition, Oblong was a 42-17 winner. Oblong held a 24-8 halftime lead then had a 29-13 third period run. Dietreich was led by Robards with eight points.
