Spurs Name Becky Hammon Assistant Coach

The San Antonio Spurs named WNBA star Becky Hammon as an assistant coach on Tuesday. Hammon will become the first female coach in the NBA since Lisa Boyer served on John Lucas' staff with Cleveland in 2001-02. Hammon, currently in her eighth season with the San Antonio Stars, will retire at the conclusion of her 16th WNBA campaign. She is the Stars' all-time leader with 1,112 assists and 493 3-point field goals made, while also ranking seventh in WNBA history with 5,809 points.
