EHS Girls Basketball Summer Camp Set

The Effingham Girls Basketball Summer Camp will be held June 4-6 at Effingham High School. Times for Wednesday, June 4 are 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Thursday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 12:15 and 12:45-3 p.m. and Friday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lunch will be provided Thursday. This is for all girls entering grades 1-8. Jeff Schafer, EHS girls head coach, will be the instructor. Girls should wear basketball shorts/sweats, T-shirt and basketball/tennis shoes.

Thte camp is open to any area girls, regardless of what school she attends. Schafer will be assisted by Aaron Witges, Megan Whitacre, Troy Van Blaricum, Whitney McWilliams, Charlies Schwerman and former and current players.

The camp will focus on developing fundamentals of each basketball camper. Through lecture, drills, individual skill sessions and film, each camper will receive detailed instruction on ballhandling, shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, footwork, rebounding and team play concepts. smaller goals will be used for grades 1-4 to ensure the girls are learning proper fundamentals regardless of strength

Each camper will play in one to two games daily. These will be three-on-three, four-on-four, or five-on-five games. Numerous awards will be distributed in daily camp contests for the different age levels.

Cost is $45. Camp forms are available at Effingham High School, Effingham Junior High School and Central Grade School or contact Jeff Schafer at 871-2117.
