Basketball Teams Headed to State in Class 3A, 4A

The Class 3A and Class 4A state tournament fields are now set after super-sectional boys basketball action Tuesday evening.

In the Class 3A DeKalb (NIU) Super-Sectional, Rockford Lutheran defeated Peoria Notre Dame 71-60. In the Class 3A Joliet Central Super-Sectional, Chicago Orr won over North Chicago 71-68.

In the Class 3A Joliet Central Super-Sectional, Chicago Morgan Park edged Chicago Brogan 68-67 and in the Class 3A Springfield (Prairie Capitol Convention Center) Super-Sectional, Lincoln defeated Cahokia 40-37.

Rockford Lutheran will now face Lincoln at 12:15 p.m. Friday at the Class 3A State Tournament at Peoria's Carver Arena while Chicago Morgan Park takes on Chicago Orr at 2 p.m. The winners advance to the title match Saturday at 2 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 12:15.

In the Class 4-A Chicago State University Super-Sectional, Chicago Whitney Young won over Wilmette Loyola Academy 58-32. Lincolnshire Stevenson defeated Rockford Auburn 63-49 to win the DeKalb (NIU) Super-Sectional.

Lisle Benet Academy beat Carol Stream Glenbard North 62-59 in the Class 4-A Hinsdale Central Super-Sectional. Edwardsville was a 65-60 winner over Chicago Heigths Marian in overtime at the Class 4-A Normal (ISU) Super-Sectional.

Chicago Whitney Young now faces Lincolnshire Stevenson at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Peoria's Carver Arena while Edwardsville takes on Lisle Benet Academy at 8:15 p.m. The winners advance to the state championship game Saturday at 8:15 p.m. while the losers play for third place at 6:30 p.m.
