EIU Men Set For OVC Tournament

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The No. 7 seed Eastern Illinois men’s basketball team is set to face No. 6 seed Southeast Missouri in Ohio Valley Conference Tournament action on Wednesday, March 5 at 8 p.m. The tournament is being played at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn., for the fourth consecutive year.

THE OPENING TIP

The No. 7 seed Eastern Illinois men’s basketball team is set to face No. 6 seed Southeast Missouri in Ohio Valley Conference Tournament action on Wednesday, March 5 at 8 p.m. The tournament is being played at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn., for the fourth consecutive year.

EIU returns to the tournament for the second straight season and will face a familiar foe in the Redhawks. The two teams met a year ago in the tournament with identical seeding as this year’s tournament. SEMO defeated EIU, 78-68, on March 6, 2013.
 
The Panthers are led by second-year head coach Jay Spoonhour. He has posted a 128-71 record in seven seasons as a head coach and a 22-37 record at EIU.

Dickey Nutt has a 255-277 overall record in 18 seasons as a head coach and a 66-90 record in five seasons with SEMO.
