Wooden Shoes Win Fifth Straight Regional Championship

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes broke open a close game with a big fourth quarter to defeat Casey-Westfield 47-36 and win the Robinson 2A Regional Tournament.

The first three quarters were tense and tight, with Casey-Westfield leading 15-14 after one quarter and up 23-20 at halftime.  Teutopolis outscored the Warriors 8-5 in the third quarter to tie the game at 28-28 before outpointing Casey-Westfield 19-8 in the final period to win by 11.

Brett Mette led Teutopolis with 22 points and nine rebounds.  Bobby Wenthe scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.  Cody Will added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  Reed Hardiek scored the other three points and pulled down four rebounds.

Brandon Wolfe led Casey-Westfield with 16 points.  Wolfe scored 13 points in the first period, but the Shoes held him to three points over the final three quarters.

Teutopolis won its fifth straight regional title and improved to 19-9 on the season.  The Wooden Shoes will battle Breese Central Tuesday at 7pm at the Vandalia 2A Sectional, a game that will be heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.  Breese Central won the Breese Mater Dei Regional, edging Mater Dei 41-38.

All tickets for Tuesday's sectional game will be sold Monday at Teutopolis High School according to this schedule--

9am--tournament players, managers and cheerleaders

9:15am--non-tournament boys basketball players

9:30am--Pomerettes

Lunch Hour--students

1-3pm--qualified staff

4-5pm--Gold Seat holders and then the general public

No admittance to the THS building until 3:45pm.

All tickets are $5 each.

All seats are general admission.
