EHS Boys End Regular Season This Week, In Salem Regional March 5

Effingham High School will end regular season play in boys basketball competition this week with two games, both away contests.

The Hearts are on the road to Mount Vernon tonight and then will finish out regular season play Friday night at Mahomet-Seymour.

EHS will then travel to the Class 3A Salem Regional next week. The regional opens play Monday evening with fourth-seeded Mascoutah taking on No. 5 Salem at 7 p.m. Tuesday's game features top-seeded Centralia taking on the winner of that first game at 7 p.m. The Hearts, seeded second, meet third-seeded Olney at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. The championship is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m.

The winner of the regional advances to the Highland Sectional to face the winner of the Belleville Althoff Catholic Regional. Also advancing to the sectional will be the winner of the Troy Triad Regional and the Herrin Regional. The sectional champion will be competing in the Springfield Super-Sectional at Prairie Capitol Convention Center Tuesday, March 18.
