Maryland Narrowly Misses Upset Over Syracuse

(College Park, MD) -- Seth Allen's three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out and Maryland fell 57-55 to Syracuse last night in College Park. Allen finished with 22 points while Dez Wells added 15. The Terps fell to 15-13 with a 7-8 ACC mark. Maryland plays at Clemson on Sunday.


Kansas Beats Oklahoma

(Lawrence, KS) -- Naadir Tharpe scored a game-high 19 points as the Jayhawks defeated Oklahoma 83-75 in Lawrence. Joel Embiid added 12 points and 13 rebounds for Kansas, which improved to 22-6 and 13-2 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks play Saturday at Oklahoma State.

 

EIU Downs Chicago State

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Sherman Blanford posted his eighth double-double of the year on Monday night, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lift the Panther men’s basketball team to an 84-62 non-conference win inside Lantz Arena. EIU improves to 10-18 on the year.

Blanford went 5-for-9 from the floor and added three assists and three blocks. The senior forward was one of five Panthers to score in double figures – the first time this season EIU has had five players score 10 or more points in a game.

EIU hit a season-high 61.7 percent of its shot attempts, going 29-for-47 from the floor. The Panthers also went 5-for-15 from behind the arc and 21-for-31 from the foul line.

Chris Olivier scored a game-high 20 points as the redshirt-sophomore forward went 8-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the foul line to tie his season-high in scoring. He also added four rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes of action off the bench.

Reggie Smith added 13 points and a game-high six assists while Josh Piper and Luke Piotrowski rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. EIU also dished out 20 assists in the win – the second-most assists in a game this year for the Panthers.

 

EIU Vs. SIUE Game Time Changes

SIUE has announced the adjustment of game times for Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball games at Vadalabene Center. The women’s game against Eastern Illinois will tip off at 1 p.m., while the men’s game, also against Eastern Illinois, will tip at 5:05 p.m.


Illinois Faces Nebraska Wednesday

(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois takes the home court tomorrow night at the State Farm Center against Nebraska. The Fighting Illini notched a win over Minnesota this past weekend to improve to 15-12. The Illini are just 4-10 in Big Ten play. Nebraska is 16-10 on the season.
