(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals are adding depth to their pitching staff. The club signed right-hander Angel Castro to a one-year contract. Castro has never pitched in the majors but has spent seven seasons in the minor leagues. The 31-year-old went 8-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 19 starts for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate last season.

The 40-year-old right-hander went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts last season for the AL West champion Oakland Athletics. He is 189-128 in 16 big league seasons overall.
