Cardinals Sign Pitcher

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals are adding depth to their pitching staff. The club signed right-hander Angel Castro to a one-year contract. Castro has never pitched in the majors but has spent seven seasons in the minor leagues. The 31-year-old went 8-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 19 starts for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate last season.

 

MLB To Ban Home Plate Collisions

(Lake Buena Vista, FL) -- Home plate collisions in Major League Baseball are a thing of the past. The MLB Rules Committee has voted to ban collisions at home plate beginning in 2014. Mets Agree To Deal With Colon

(New York, NY) -- The Mets are adding a proven arm to their rotation with the addition of Bartolo Colon. The "New York Post" reports it's a two-year deal worth $20-million, pending a physical. The 40-year-old right-hander went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA in 30 starts last season for the AL West champion Oakland Athletics. He is 189-128 in 16 big league seasons overall.
