Cardinals Remain Quiet At Winter Meetings

(Lake Buena Vista, FL) -- The Cardinals continue to be quiet at baseball's Winter Meetings in Florida. The Redbirds have not been involved in any signings or trades thus far at the annual Hot Stove gathering. The Cards are still seeking a right-hand hitting infielder. The meetings run through Thursday.

The Cardinals' Allen Craig and Yadier Molina are recipients of GIBBY Awards. Craig's infamous obstruction call that ended Game Three of the World Series received a Greatness in Baseball Yearly honor for top postseason moment. Molina won again as the game's top defender.

The Cardinals acquisition of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds is being put on hold. Memphis City Council voted to delay the matter. The "Memphis Business Journal" reports the purchase price of AutoZone Park will drop from $20-million down to $15-million, with stadium improvements being caped at $2.5-million.

Former Cardinals pitcher Mark Mulder wants to return to the game. The 36-year-old will attempt to make a comeback after retiring in 2009. Mulder had two surgeries on his left shoulder that reduced his effectiveness. He has been working as an analyst at ESPN since 2011.

Sox Acquire Eaton In Three-Team Deal

(Lake Buena Vista, FL) -- The White Sox have acquired outfielder Adam Eaton from the Diamondbacks in a three-team deal. The move sends left-hander Hector Santiago to the Angels while Mark Trumbo heads from LA to Arizona. Eaton will likely hit leadoff for the Sox and play center field.

Rumors Surround Cubs' Samardzija

(Lake Buena Vista, FL) -- The Cubs have been mostly quiet at this week's Winter Meetings. There have been a number of rumors surrounding starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija and his status with the team. Chicago could possibly trade him before the start of the season.
