Matt Adams clubbed a two-run homer to cap off the eighth inning for the Redbirds, who have won five in-a-row and remain a game ahead of the Pirates for first place in the NL Central. Lance Lynn struck out 10 while giving up just an unearned run in six innings but did not factor in the decision. Trevor Rosenthal picked up the win in relief. Carlos Gomez scored the lone Brewers run on a throwing error in the second inning. Brandon Kintzler suffered the loss. Milwaukee will try to avoid the three-game sweep on Thursday.

Leake allowed four hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings to improve to 13-6. Jeff Samardzija gave up all six runs in less than six innings to fall to 8-12 for Chicago. Nate Schierholtz and Junior Lake each had doubles for the Cubs' only extra-base hits.

(Miami, FL) -- Tempers flared as the Marlins beat up on the Braves, 5-2, at Marlins Park behind star rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez. Fernandez picked up the win, dealing seven innings of one-run ball and also crushed his first career home run in the bottom of the sixth. The 39-year-old was removed from Saturday's game against the Red Sox after manager Joe Girardi said he didn't like the way Jeter was running after hitting an RBI single. Jeter played in just 17 games this season.
