Effingham Post 120 Seniors Fall At Fifth Division Tournament

Effingham Post 120 Seniors dropped their opening game at the Fifth Division Tournament Monday at Long Acre Park in Fairview Heights.

Post 120 fell to Fairview Heights 13-6 as the host squad banged out 15 hits in the contest. Effingham had seven hits led by Wright with two doubles and an RBI and Levitt with two doubles. Quandt chipped in with a double.

Fairview Heights had eight extra base hits in the game. Jarvis had two singles, a home run and an RBI while Garza had a single and two doubles, Boewe a single, triple and three RBI, Hughes a single, double and two RBI and Tindall a single, double and an RBI. Warren and Guitheus added a double each.

Wild pitched the victory allowing seven hits, two walks and striking out nine.

In other games, Belleville blanked Aviston 8-0, Edwardsville won over Steeleville 7-0 and Murphysboro downed Louisville 15-4.

Today's schedule includes Aviston against Louisville at 10 a.m., Effingham taking on Steeleville at 1 p.m., Belleville facing Murphysboro at 4 and Edwardsville against Fairview Heights at 7.
