Post #120 Senior Legion Team Wins Over Robinson; Teutopolis Downs Vandalia

The Effingham Post #120 American Legion Senior baseball team pounded Robinson Friday, 11-2, while Teutopolis Post #924 won over Vandalia 6-2 in District Tournament action.

Post #120 posted back-to-back five-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings and added a run in the seventh to claim the win.  Effingham scored its 11 runs on only nine hits, also benefitting from seven bases on balls.

Devin Mayfield came up big for Post #120, allowing no runs on just three hits and no walks in six innings of work while fanning five.  Tanner Traub pitched the final three innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and two walks, but striking out six.

At the plate for Post #120: Nate McDonald singled and walked and drove in three runs...Carter Hayes walked twice and scored a run...Alec Quandt doubled and walked, scored and drove in a run...Devin Wright doubled and scored twice...Drew Levitt doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in a run...Clayton Ruckman drove in a run...Dirk Levitt singled, scored twice and drove in a run...Trenton Frey singled, walked twice and scored twice...Preston Walker singled and walked, scored and drove in a run...and Tim Yurs singled.

Teutopolis Post #924 scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings, two in the seventh and a run in the eighth to secure the win over Vandalia.  John Ungrund got the win.

Teutopolis will take on Olney today at 1pm, while Effingham will play the winner of Salem and Patoka at 4pm in more District Tournament action.
