Effingham High School graduate Nick Gardewine has been drafted by the Texas Rangers in the Major League Baseball Draft for 2013.

The 19-year-old Gardewine has completed his first year at Kaskaskia College in Centralia and was a key member of a KC squad that advanced to the NJCAA World Series for the first time in school history.

The 6' 1" righthander was drafted in the seventh round and was the 220th player chosen in this year's draft.

Nick is the son of Ted Gardewine and Amy Donaldson of Effingham.  He was drafted on his grandfather Fran Gardewine's birthday.

Our Greg Sapp sat down with Nick Sunday afternoon for a conversation about the draft and where things go from here...
