BSE Wins EIC Tourney Crown; Area Baseball Roundup

Brownstown/St. Elmo captured the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament.

GREENVILLE -- Brownstown/St. Elmo captured the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday at Greenville University.

BSE was an 8-1 winner over Mulberry Grove to finish 3-0 in the tourney. BSE stepped out to a 5-0 opening inning lead. Mulberry Grove scored its run in the fourth. BSE came back with three in the fifth.

Adam Atwood had three singles and an RBI for the winners while Jarrett Pasley had two singles. Wyatt Forbes and Lane Stine had an RBI each on a single. Josiah Maxey finished with an RBI.

Pasley went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on three hits, two walks while striking out six.

BSE is now 10-8 on the season and returns to action Monday against Cisne.

Mulberry Grove finished third in the tourney with a 1-2 record.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed second place in the tournament, finishing with a 2-1 record. 

CHBC blanked  Ramsey by a 10-0 count in six innings Thursday.

CHBC tallied single runs through the first four innings then scored three in the fifth and ended the contest with three in the sixth.

Jacob Doty held Ramsey to one hit while giving up four walks and striking out 10 for the pitching win.

Clayton Wojcik led the team offensively with two singles, a double and an RBI. Gage Lorton added a triple and Wyatt Rueff two singles and an RBI.

Mulberry Grove was third with a 1-2 record and Ramsey was fourth at 0-3.

At Altamont

Altamont won a doubleheader over Teutopolis Thursday.

The Indians were hot-hitting, finishing with 16 in the 13-7 victory. Mason Robinson led the way with a single, three doubles and an RBI while Jared Hammer, Wyatt Phillips and Logan Cornett had a double each. Hammer and Phillips finished with a single, double and two RBI each and Cornett a double and an RBI. Kienon Eirhart and Kaidyn Miller had two singles and three RBI each. Hayden Siebert contributed  a single and an RBI.

Eli Miller picked up the victory, going 2.1 innings allowing no runs on one hit, no walks while striking out four.

The Wooden Shoes were led offensively by Logan Roepke with a single, triple and two RBI, Garrett Gaddis with a triple, Caleb Bloemer with a double and Mitch Koester and Caleb Siemer a single and an RBI each.

In the second contest, Altamont picked up a 9-4 victory.

T-town took a 2-1 opening inning lead but Altamont came back with three in the second, two in the third and three in the fifth.

Keegan Schultz had three singles and an RBI for the winners while Aden McManaway had a triple and two RBI, Eli Miller two singles and an RBI and Hammer a single and an RBI. The Indians are 16-4 on the season.

T-town was led by J. Bushur with a single, triple and two RBI, Austin Bloemer with two singles and an RBI and Brett Kreke two singles.

At Odin

Odin edged Dieterich in Thursday competition by an 8-6 count.

Both teams tallied a run in the first. Odin scored four in the second and held a 6-2 lead in the third.. Dieterich pulled within 6-4 in the fourth but Odin tallied two more in the fifth. The Movin' Maroons made a run in the seventh with two runs only to fall short.

Odin had only four hits compared to seven for the Maroons but Dieterich finished with three errors and three pitchers allowed nine walks.

Pete Britton led the way for the Maroons offensively with two singles and a triple while Andrew Hall had a double and two RBI, Noah Dill a double and an RBI and Garrett Niebrugge a single and an RBI.
