Pitcher Jon Lester announced his retirement Wednesday after 16 years and three World Series titles, two with the Boston Red Sox in 2007 and 2013, and one with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. The 38-year-old spent most of his career with the two teams.

He told ESPN, “I don’t want someone else telling me I can’t do this anymore. I want to be able to hand my jersey over and say, ‘Thank you, it’s been fun.’”

He ends with a 200-117 record and a 3.66 ERA.
