Cubs Down Marlins In Ninth

(Miami, FL) -- Luis Valbuena hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Cubs a 4-3 win over the Marlins. Nate Schierholtz was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo shot in the sixth the victory.  Chicago took game one of the series to move to 7-14.  Edwin Jackson allowed three runs in six innings, while reliever Shawn Camp earned the win, and Carlos Marmol nailed down his second save.  Miami jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings, but wasn't able to hold on.  Giancarlo Stanton's struggles continued as he went 1-for-5. Stanton doesn't have a homer on the season.  Closer Steve Cishek fell to 1-3.

 

White Sox Sting Rays

(Chicago, IL) -- Adam Dunn hit a two-run home run leading the White Sox past the Rays, 5-2. Alex Rios scored two of the five runs in support of starting pitcher Chris Sale. Sale allowed two runs on four hits and struck out seven in seven innings for his second win of the season. Rays catcher Jose Lobaton hit his first home run of the season in the loss. Jeremy Hellickson gave up all five Sox runs on five hits to take the loss.  He fell to 1-2 despite striking out eight.
