Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed an opening victory in the Egyptian Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Monday.

BSE defeated Mulberry Grove, 9-6. BSE stepped out to a 3-0 opening inning lead. Mulberry Grove tallied one in the second. BSE moved ahead 5-1 in the third. Mulberry Grove tallied again in the fifth with a run. BSE scored four in the bottom of the frame to lead 9-2. Mulberry Grove rallied in the top of the seventh only to fall short.

Adam Atwood picked up the win on the mound for BSE going 6.2 innings allowing six runs on nine hits, three walks while striking out eight.

Wyatt Chandler had a single, triple and two runs for the winners while Lukas Miller added a single double and three RBI and Dalton Myers a double and two RBI.

BSE improves to 9-6 and will face Ramsey today at 4:15 p.m., weather permitting.

In the other contest Monday, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City trounced Ramsey, 16-1.

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony blanked Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 11-0 in five innings Monday.

The Bulldogs had nine hits in the contest and was aided by three CORL errors.

Brock Jansen had a double and triple and drove in a run for the Bulldogs. Eli Link added a double and an RBI while Angelo Mendella and Colton Fearday had two singles and an RBI each.

Brody Niebrugge was the pitching winner with 10 strikeouts. He went the whole five innings, allowing four hits and not giving up a walk.

The Bulldogs improve to 11-4 on the season.

At St. Anthony

At Wayne  City

Dieterich blanked Wayne City 4-0 in Monday competition.

The Movin' Maroons edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on a second run in the fourth and finished out with two in the fifth.

Pete Britton went six innings for the win on the mound, alllowing two hits, four walks while striking out eight.

Britton also aided his own cause with a single, double and an RBI. Sam Hardiek had a single and an RBI.

At Wayne City

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis put together two three-run innings and claimed a 9-4 victory over Odin/Patoka Monday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 1-0 lead after two innings then tallied three runs in the third and fourth and two more in the fifth.

Both teams had five hits. Derek Konkel hit a home run and finished with two RBI for the Wooden Shoes. Kayden Althoff had a single and drove in a run.

Dylan Pruemer took the win on the mound, going 3.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit, four walks and five strikeouts.

T-town improves to 7-8 while Odin/Patoka dropped to 4-5. The Shoes are back in action Wednesday playing host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

North Clay (Louisville) blanked Cisne, 10-0 in action Monday.

North Clay improved to 18-1 on the season overall. The Cardinals will be back in action Thursday against Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m.
