Teutopolis High School handed Effingham a 5-2 loss in baseball action Monday.

The Wooden Shoes had five hits in the contest. Pruemer had a double while Waldhoff, Smith, Hardiek and Witt had a single each. Waldhoff added an RBI.

Effingham was led by Walker, Levitt, Vail, Heuerman and Webb with a single each. Levitt had an RBI.

Kenter (1-1) picked up the pitching win for T-town coming on in relief in the fifth inning allowing one hit, no runs, one walk and striking out four.

"Preston was the losing pitcher but threw four really good innings," said EHS Coach Chris Fleener.

T-town improves to 8-1 on the season after picking up another victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 12-6.

T-town had 13 hits in the contest led by Goldstein with two singles, a double and two RBI. Waldhoff and Wendling had a single and a double each. Waldhoff added two RBI. Gillespie had a double and an RBI.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was led by Vonderheide with a single, double and an RBI, Theis and Fulk with two singles each. Cole added an RBI and Helton had a double.

Waldhoff was the winning pitcher and improved to 2-0. Will had the save.

In freshmen/sophomore games, Effingham claimed a 1-0 victory in the opener. Kevin Daugherty was the winning pitcher. Michael Woltman had a single and drove in the lone run.

In the second contest, Teutopolis claimed a 5-1 victory. EHS had singles by Blake White, Taylor Martin and Alex Webb. Martin had an RBI. The Hearts drop to 1-1.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 7-1 victory over Brownstown. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second inning then tallied three runs each in the third and fourth. The Bombers' lone run came in the fourth.

Kyle Bourgeois picked up the pitching win allowing one run on four hits and striking out nine. Austin Bushur and Braden Puckett had two hits each. Bushur added two RBI.

The Bulldogs improve to 5-1 on the season.

Shelbyville handed Neoga an 8-4 loss to improve to 5-0 on the season. Jake Keown picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter. He also aided his own cause with three singles and two RBI.

Neoga held a 4-0 lead until the fifth when the Rams tallied seven runs.

Matt McCown pitched a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings, allowing one walk and striking out seven. He came on in relief of Seth Bland in the first inning.
