Confirming a ‘New York Times’ report Sunday, Paul Dolan, the owner of Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians, said Monday the team will be changing its name.

Native Americans had long wanted the name change, deeming it racist, and Dolan told the AP, “it’s time” and, “The name is no longer acceptable in our world.”

Dolan said the team will continue to be the Indians until a new name is chosen, a process that’s in its early stages, and the team will keep its name at least through next season.
