Jupiter, FL) -- Andrew Brown singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Mets clipped the Cardinals 3-2 in Jupiter. Matt Adams and Oscar Taveras drove in runs for St. Louis. Jake Westbrook allowed three hits and two runs over six innings in a no-decision.  Mark Rzepczynski took the loss. The Cardinals host the Miami Marlins today.

The Cardinals had a surprise guest in camp Monday in the form of pitcher Chris Carpenter. The 37-year-old right-hander is expected to miss the entire season with nerve issues in his shoulder and neck. "Carp" decided to swing by Jupiter while vacationing with his family.  It was a surprise to all except GM John Mozeliak and manager Mike Matheny.

Cardinals stars Carlos Beltran and Yadier Molina will play for Puerto Rico tonight against the Dominican Republic for the World Baseball Classic title. The DR defeated the Kingdom of the Netherlands Monday night, 4-1. On Sunday, Puerto Rico defeated two-time defending champion Japan, 3-1. Tonight's game starts at 7.

Cubs Top Padres

(Peoria, AZ) -- Edwin Jackson tossed six innings of one-run ball in leading the Cubs to a 5-2 win over the Padres Monday in Cactus League action. Dave Sappelt smacked a three-run homer in the fifth inning for Chicago, which now has less than two weeks until Opening Day. Brent Lillibridge went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs in the victory.

The Cubs are set to play the Rangers today at HoHoKam Park with a lineup that will likely look the same on Opening Day. Manager Dale Sveum says the players featured in the starting nine today will likely take the field when the Cubbies take on the Pirates in Pittsburgh April 1. While Jeff Samardzija will start that day, Chris Rusin takes the ball today.

Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens is trying to get the Cubs to move to the suburbs.  According to "CSN Chicago," Stephens has offered the team 25 acres of land to build a new stadium and parking facilities. Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts wants to renovate Wrigley Field, but wants the city to relax some restrictions and allow more night games.

White Sox Battle Reds Today

(Goodyear, AZ) -- The White Sox take the field in Goodyear this afternoon against the Cincinnati Reds. Chicago suffered a 10-0 loss to the Royals Sunday and spent Monday off. The Sox will play nine more games in Arizona before departing for Milwaukee for two exhibitions against the Brewers at Miller Park late next week.

White Sox starter Jake Peavy used the team's off day Monday to throw in a simulated game. The veteran tossed 90 pitches over six innings to a group of Dodgers minor league players at Camelback Ranch. Peavy is scheduled to start Chicago's second regular season game against the Royals on April 3.
