Gardewine, KC Lose to John A. Logan 8-3 Friday

Kaskaskia College dropped their first game of the GRAC Conference season Friday 8-3 to John A. Logan College.

Effingham High School graduate Nick Gardewine started for KC and took the loss.  Gardewine went seven innings, giving up six hits, four runs, one earned, walked two and fanned six.

John A. Logan got a run in the first on three hits and added three more runs in the second on three more hits with a two-out error allowing the three runs to score.  Gardewine settled down and retired 15 of the next 16 batters he faced before exiting.

KC scored a run in the fifth and two runs in the eighth, but stranded 16 baserunners.

John A. Logan added four runs in the eighth.  Both teams tallied 11 hits. 

Kaskaskia College is now 3-1 in the conference and 7-3 overall.  They play a doubleheader today at John A. Logan.

Gardewine is 2-1 on the spring, pitching 27 innings and allowing 15 hits and five runs, but just one earned run while walking nine and striking out 30.
