Teutopolis Defeats St. Anthony in Extra Innings; Other Thursday Scores

In a battle Thursday night, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated the St. Anthony Bulldogs 9-7 in 10 innings.

Teutopolis took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and extended the advantage to 4-0 with two more runs in the fourth. 

St. Anthony bounced back to tie the game 4-4 in the fifth inning, but Teutopolis scored in the sixth to move back on top 5-4. The Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Teutopolis scored twice in the top of the eighth to lead 7-5, but St. Anthony matched those two runs in the bottom of the frame to keep the game going.

Neither team scored in the ninth, but the Wooden Shoes scored twice in the top of the 10th and held St. Anthony scoreless in the bottom of the inning to win the game.

The two teams banged out 25 hits in the game, 14 for St. Anthony.

Sam Bushur, the sixth Teutopolis pitcher, got the win to even his record at 3-3 on the fall, going three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out three. 

Josh Blanchette, the fourth St. Anthony pitcher, took the loss, working 1-1/3 innings and allowing the winning run on two hits with a strikeout.

Teutopolis improved to 14-6 on the fall and will be back in action Friday against Neoga. 

St. Anthony is now 9-10 on the campaign, and will next play Monday at 4pm in the National Trail Conference Tournament, also against Neoga.

After Woodlawn scored two runs in the first, Dieterich plated a run in the third and added two runs in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. Woodlawn, though, scored four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Dieterich added a run in the seventh.
