CHBC, BSE Nab EIC Tourney Wins; S.C., Neoga Pick Up Victories

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and St. Elmo/Brownstown both remained unbeaten in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Tuesday.

 

CHBC easily handled Ramsey, 15-0 in three innings. CHBC opened with a 10-run first inning and tallied five more in the second.

The Bobcats had only four hits in the game while Ramsey committed eight errors and gave up eight walks.

Wes Radloff had a double and drove in two runs for the winners. Seth Doty had two singles and three RBI while Mason Manley added a single and had four RBI. Gage Lorton chipped in with two singles.

Ian Hammond threw a one-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts.

In the game at Brownstown, the Bombers banged out 11 hits in the contest and edged Mulberry Grove, 6-5.

BSE took a 1-0 first inning lead but Mulberry moved ahead in the top of the third 4-1. BSE tied in the bottom of the frame. The score stood at 5-5 after four. BSE then tallied the winning run in the sixth.

Jace McWhorter had a big hitting night with two singles, a double and a triple. Brady Maxey had a single, double and an RBI while Francisco Viramontes had two singles and two RBI. Adam Atwood had two singles and an RBI.

BSE and CHBC are now 2-0 in the tournament while Mulberry Grove and Ramsey are both 0-2.

The tournament comes to a close Thursday with Ramsey at Mulberry Grove and BSE at CHBC.

At Kinmundy

South Central put together an all-around good game in bouncing Altamont, 16-1 in four innings Tuesday.

The Cougars' Aiden Dodson threw a one-hitter with no walks while striking out eight.

Meanwhile, South Central finished with 11 hits including two home runs. Beau Jolliff had a single, a homer and drove in seven runs while Chase Dodson had a double, home run and two RBI. Sam Rubin contributed a single, double and an RBI while Ethan Watwood had two singles and an RBI. Chase Thompson added a double.

The lone hit for the Indians came off the bat of Wyatt Phillips with a single.

At Kinmundy

At Neoga

Neoga edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 4-3 in action Tuesday.

The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. WSS tied in the top of the third but Neoga came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. WSS tied in the top of the seventh and Neoga won it in the bottom of the frame. A fly ball to left field was dropped after a collision with the leftfielder and centerfielder and a Neoga runner scored from second for the winning run.

Adam Fearday had a solo home run for the winners while Isaac Walk had a single and drove in two runs.

Leading the Hatchets was Gavan Wernsing with a home run and two  RBI.
