CLASS 1A REGIONAL

Neoga advanced in a Class 1A junior high baseball regional Monday.

Neoga edged Mulberry Grove 4-3 and will now face Effingham St. Anthony today on the Bullpups field at 4:30 p.m.

In the other contest played, Findlay Okaw Valley edged Altamont 16-15. Okaw Valley now travels to Effingham Sacred Heart today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

 

CLASS 1A REGIONAL

Newton St. Thomas played host to Oblong and captured an 11-1 victory in the first round.

Oblong tallied its only run in the first inning. The Saints pushed three runs across the plate in the first, three in the second and five in the fourth.

St. Thomas was led by Drew Earnest, Alex Gier and Drake Herdes at the plate. All had two hits while Gier drovei n three runs, Herdes two and Earnest one.

Earnest was also the winning pitcher going four strong innings. Carter Barthelme came on in the top of the fifth to get the Saints out of a bases loaded jam.

St. Thomas advances to the second round and travels to Sigel St. Michael today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

In the other game played in the regional Monday, North Clay (Louisville) trounced Hutsonville/Palestine, 17-7. North Clay will now head to Dieterich for a 4:30 p.m. cotnest today.

 

CLASS 2A REGIONAL

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 7-0.

WSS tallied four in the second and three in the fourth behind a five-hit attack and five errors by CHBC. WSS was led by Jackson Gurgel with a single, trple and three RBI. Sayers had a single and an RBI.

Blake Mueller led CHBC with two singles. CHBC ended at 6-3 in the National Trail Conference and 6-6 overall.

WSS advances to South Central today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

In the second game, Shelbyville Moulton edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 7-6. Moulton stepped out to a 4-0 first innig lead but BSE tied in the top of the second. Moulton moved ahead in the bottom of the frame with two runs. BSE pulled within 6-5 in the fifth but Moulton tallied another run in the sixth then had to hold off BSE in the seventh.

BSE was led by G. Wilhour with two singles and an RBI and C. Hoopingarner with a double and an RBI.

Moulton advances to travel to Teutopolis today.

CLASS 2A REGIONAL

At Toledo

Red Hill (Bridgeport) ended Cumberland's season in the Class 2A Regional, 3-1.

Red Hill travels to Lawrenceville Parkview today. In the other contest today, Casey-Westfield is at Jasper County.

 

CLASS 3A REGIONAL

Marshall picked up an opening round win over Sullivan Monday. Marshall was a 3-1 winner.

Marshall now travels to Mattoon today. In the other contest today, Charleston will be at Effingham.
