Houston Astros pitcher Francis Martes has been suspended for 162 games for a performance-enhancing drug violation after testing positive for Boldenone, MLB announced Monday. The 24-year-old hasn't played since 2017, after undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2018, and then being suspended for 80 games in March 2019 for another PED violation.

The fallout from the Houston Astros’ 2017 sign-stealing scandal is continuing, with some players, including three-time AL MVP Mike Trout, criticizing MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Monday for not punishing any of the players involved, giving them immunity in exchange for cooperating. Some have called for the Astros to be stripped of their 2017 World Series title, but Manfred told ESPN Sunday, “The idea of an asterisk or asking for a piece of metal back seems like a futile act.” The “piece of metal” comment also upset some players.
