Derek Jeter and Larry Walker were elected to baseball's Hall of Fame Tuesday, with Jeter falling just one vote short of a unanimous vote in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America and Walker elected in his 10th and final year of eligibility.

Jeter spent his entire 20-year career as the New York Yankees' shortstop, winning five World Series. He was AL Rookie of the Year in 1996 and a 14-time All-Star. Walker was a right fielder for the Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals. The five-time All-Star was the 1997 NL MVP.

Braves, Ozuna Reach Deal

The Atlanta Braves reached a one-year, $18 million deal with free agent outfielder Marcell Ozuna Tuesday. Ozuna was with the St. Louis Cardinals last season, who beat the Braves in their NLDS. The two-time All-Star spent his first five seasons with the Miami Marlins, then two years in St. Louis.

Resolution To Strip Astros, Red Sox World Series Titles

The Los Angeles City Council approved a resolution Tuesday to ask the MLB to strip the Houston Astros' 2017 World Series championship and the Boston Red Sox's 2018 title and award both to the L.A. Dodgers because of the sign-stealing scandal. The Dodgers lost in the World Series both years. The resolution was introduced after an MLB report last week said the Astros in 2017 stole signs using a centerfield camera in a system instituted by then-Houston coach Alex Cora. Boston is under separate investigation for possibly stealing signs the following season, Cora's first with the team as manager. The Council members acknowledged the vote was just symbolic.
