Teutopolis High School graduate Dawson Smith was named the Class 2A Player of the Year by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association.

The IHSBCA honors athletes who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, dedication and service off the field as well as excellence on it.

Smith was officially honored at the IHSBCA Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony Saturday at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center Hotel.

Smith, 6-foot-6, is a right-handed freshman pitcher for Kaskaskia College in Centralia.
