SIGEL -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 7-1 victory over South Central to win the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Baseball Sectional Saturday.

The Bullpups tallied three in the second inning then tacked on single runs in the fourth and sixth and had a four-run fifth.

St. Anthony had 10 hits led by Beau Adams with a double and two RBI, Joey C. Trupiano with a double and an RBI, Collin Westendorf with two singles and two RBI and Max Koenig with two singles and an RBI.

Connor Roepke picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with three walks and four strikeouts.

South Central was led by Sidwell with two singles.

The victory improves the Bullpups' record to 9-6 and they will now face Normal Epiphany (13-9) Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Eastside Centre in East Peoria. The winner of that contest advances to a 9:30 a.m. semifinal game. The winners advance to the championship and the losers to the third place game.

Teutopolis won its own sectional and will be opening play at the Class 2A State Tournament Friday.

At Teutopolis

Paris Mayo took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the Class 2A Teutopolis Sectional but that didn't last long. The homestanding Wooden Shoes tallied two in the third, three in the fourth and finished out with four in the sixth for a 9-1 victory and the sectional title.

The Shoes got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Joey Niebrugge doubled with runners on second and third, scoring two.

The Shoes had 10 hits led by Tyler Pruemer and Niebrugge with a double and two RBI each, Jackson Hille with three singles, Garrett Gaddis with two singles and two RBI and Mitch Koester with two singles and an RBI. The Shoes had nine stolen bases with Evan Waldhoff garnering two of those.

Pruemer went six innings, allowing one run on six hits, two walks and striking out 11.

The Shoes advance to the Class 2A State Tournament at Eastside Centre in East Peoria Friday where they will take on Pleasant Plains at noon. T-town is 18-2 while Pleasant Plains has an 18-5 record.

The winner will advance to a 10 a.m. contest Saturday with the losers of that semifinal game  playing for third at 2:30 and the winners for the state title at 4:30.

SIJHSAA Baseball

Altamont Lutheran defeated Odin/Patoka 10-0 to advance to the Class S State Tournament in SIJHSAA baseball.

Altamont Lutheran will now face Cisne at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The state tourney is held at Coulterville.
