Altamont, Teutopolis in Action Thursday; BSE Wins EIC Tournament

Altamont and Teutopolis, two schools having success in baseball this fall, tangled Thursday.

Altamont won the opening contest 4-2. Kaden Eirhart got the win, going the distance for the Indians, allowing the two earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out seven.

Luke Ungrund took the loss for Teutopolis, allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk while fanning seven. Mitch Hardiek pitched an inning, posting two strikeouts.

A second game was played, won by Teutopolis 14-1 in five innings. Derek Konkel went the distance, allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Jared Hammer took the loss in two-thirds of an inning, allowing six earned runs on four hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Wyatt Cripe pitched an inning, allowing five earned runs on three hits and walk with a strikeout. Brayden Stuemke pitched the final 2-1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while fanning four.

Teutopolis is 16-3 on the fall, while Altamont is now 13-5.

Brownstown/St. Elmo won the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament Thursday.

BSE defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 7-4 to finish the tournament with a 3-0 record. Ramsey defeated Mulberry Grove 6-5 and finished second in the tournament with a 2-1 record. CHBC went 1-2 to finish third, and Mulberry Grove went 0-3 and finished fourth.

BSE banged out seven hits Thursday and worked around five errors to post the win. CHBC totaled eight hits and committed four errors.

Francisco Viramontes got the win, going 5-2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven, walking four and striking out three. Brady Maxey finished up to earn the save. Manley took the loss for CHBC, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks while fanning six in 5-2/3 innings.

At the plate for BSE: Bryton Pruett went 4-for-4 with four singles; Jace McWhorter tripled and drove in two runs; Dalton Myers singled and drove in two runs; Wyatt Chandler went 1-for-3.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 9-7 on the fall.

Dieterich blanked Odin/Patoka 8-0 Thursday.

The Movin Maroons pounded out 10 hits and did not commit an error. Matthew Hunzinger got the win, allowing just two hits and no walks in six innings of work, striking out six. Noah Dill pitched the final inning.
