Effingham High School graduate Curran McNeely has been named varsity baseball coach of the Hearts. The Unit 40 school board made the appointment official Monday night.

McNeely had been hired this spring to teach PE and Health at EHS this coming school year. He has been coaching baseball and teaching at Marshall the past three years.

McNeely is a 2008 EHS graduate, playing football and basketball as well as baseball. He is a graduate of Murray State University.

McNeely will succeed his former baseball coach, Chris Fleener, as coach at EHS. Fleener resigned earlier this year to take over teaching and coaching duties at Fairfield.
