Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale recorded his 2,000th career strikeout Tuesday night and set a new Major League record in the process.

Sale became the fastest pitcher to 2,000 strikeouts, reaching the mark in just 1,626 innings. That’s just over 85 fewer innings than previous record-holder, Pedro Martinez.
