Kyle Floyd Joins EIU Baseball Staff

Kyle Floyd, a Windsor High School graduate, is joining the baseball staff at Eastern Illnois University.

Floyd has been a volunteer coach for the past three years at USC Upstate. He graduated from Windsor High School in 2011 where he was a two-time All-National Trail Conference first team selection.

He graduated with an Associates in Arts from Kaskaskia Community College in 2013 where he competed on the baseball team. He hit .354 over his two-year career. Kaskaskia won the REgion 24 Championship and the Northern District Championship in 2013 when he was a sophomore and made an appearance in the NJCAA Division I World Series. Floyd was recognized as the North District and Region 24 Catcher of the Year.

He then headed to Lincoln Memorial University where he finished out his college career with a .349 batting average. He started 76 times in his career and helped the Railsplitters to 53 wins in two seasons. He was twice recognized with All-South Atlantic Conference honors. He finished with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from Lincoln Memorial in 2015.

He started his coaching career at Lincoln Memorial University as a Graduate Assistant in 2015. He was the outfielders coach as well as assisting with hitters and catchers.

On a Twitter post, Floyd said, "Over the past three years of my life I have been a member of the USC Upstate coaching staff and I have enjoyed every single minute of it. I'm excited to announce that I am joining the baseball staff at Eastern Illinois University. I'm fired up to get started. Go Panthers."
