Effingham St. Anthony banged out 14 hits while Blake Niebrugge pitched a two-hitter in a 15-2 high school baseball win over Sullivan Thursday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had an eight-run second and scored two runs in the third, fourth and ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

Niebrugge allowed three walks and struck out six in the win on the mound. He also aided his own cause with three singles and five RBI.

Other big hitters included Davis Tingley with a single, double and an RBI, Collin Koester with two singles and an RBI and Kaden Fearday with two singles and an RBI. Seven other players had a single each.

At Casey

Teutopolis High School's Derek Deters and Brayden Will combined to throw a one-hitter as the Wooden Shoes pounded Casey-Westfield 16-0 in five innings Thursday.

Will went 3.2 innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two. Will threw 1.1 innings with one strikeout.

Dawson Smith had a single, double and an RBI while teammate Evan Addis had two singles and three RBI. Mitch Hardiek and Mitch Hemmen contributed two singles and two RBI each. Trenton Schwerdt and Brady McMahon had a single and two RBI each.

T-town improves to 2-3 on the season.

At Newton

Despite trailing 2-0 through two innings, Altamont came back to pick up a 5-2 win over Newton in action Thursday.

The Eagles led 2-0 until the third when Altamont tied the game then took a 3-2 lead in the fourth. The Indians tacked on two in the sixth.

Altamont had seven hits led by Tyler Robbins with a triple and Noah Teasley with two singles and three RBI. The Indians are now 2-1 on the season.

Newton actually outhit Altamont by a 9-7 count. Ross Farley had a single and double while Kyle Schafer and Mason Conlin added two singles each.

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Webber Township (Bluford) 10-0 in action Thursday.

The Eagles edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a two-run third and sandwiched three runs in the fourth and sixth around a single run in the fifth.

Bryton Pruett threw a three-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts.

Francisco Viramontes and Rocky Himes had a double each for the winners while Nate Philpot had two singles and drove in two runs.

BSE now stands at 1-2 on the season.

Dieterich broke a 1-1 tie after two innings with a single run in the fifth and tacked on one more in the sixth for a 3-1 win over Flora Thursday.

Dieterich had four hits, all singles by Dalton Will, Cole Niebrugge, Derek Kuhl and Seth Bushur. Matthew Hunzinger added an RBI.

Evan Bohnhoff went five innings allowing four hits, one run, two walks and striking out seven for the win. Hunzinger came on to throw two innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out six.

Cumberland edged Paris, 2-1 in nine innings Thursday.

The two teams went scoreless through four innings before both tallied a run in the fifth. The Pirates then had the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Both teams had three hits and committed two errors.

Brennyn Cutts, Brayson Shew and Justin Brown had a single each for Cumberland. Alex Talley had an RBI.
