Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony split freshman/sophomore baseball victories Wednesday.

The Hearts won the opener 3-2. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 2-1 after four. But the Hearts tallied two runs in the fifth to pull out the win.

Woomer had a double while Raddatz had a triple and an RBI. Wolfe and Blickem added two singles each. Blickem had an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Mendella with three singles and two RBI.

In the second contest, St. Anthony claimed a 6-5 win. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied three runs in the second and two in the fourth. All five runs for Effingham came in the fourth.

The Bulldogs had six hits led by Moore with a triple and two RBI and Fearday and Swingler with a double each. Hotze was the winning pitcher, going four innings, allowing five runs on four hits with five walks and 10 strikeouts.

Effingham was led by Smith with a double and two RBI and Mattson and Nelson with a double and an RBI each.
