Area Players Compete at All-State Baseball Showcase

JACKSONVILLE -- Several local players competed in the Seventh Annual Junior High All-State Baseball Showcase during the weekend at Lenz Field and Sports Complex, LLC.

In the eighth-grade boys division, area players competed for the Southeast team that finished second in Pool B with a 2-1 record.

Members of the team were Griffin Sehy, WIll Hoene and Eli Levitt from Effingham St.Anthony,  Andrew Donaldson and Garrett  Wolfe from Effingham, Josh McDevitt and Dawson Lohman from Effingham Sacred Heart, Garrett Niebrugge, Noah Dill and Pete Britton from Dieterich and Ethan Atwood and Aidan Dodson from South Central. Coach of the team was Brady Arview.

The squad edged West Central, 6-5 then defeated North 6-2 before dropping a 6-2 decision to South Central.

Named to the East seventh-grade team were Jacob Boyajian and Noah Biggs of Effingham Sacred Heart. Coach of the team was Justin Palmer.

The squad went 0-4 losing to West Central 7-5, East 7-0, Southwest 7-6 and North Central 15-2.
