Braves Snap Losing Streak Against Cards, D-backs Blank Cubs

Wednesday. The Braves snapped a four-game losing streak and ended the Cardinals win streak at eight in Atlanta.

The Braves came out with two runs in the third and added on three more in the fourth. The Cardinals actually outhit the Braves by one.

Addison Bader smashed out a solo shot in the fifth. Jose Marteinz had two singles and Paul DeJong a double.

Jack Flaherty picked up the loss, dropping his record to 8-8. He went 4.2 innings, allowing five hits, five runs, two walks and struck out six.

The Cardinals lead over Colorado went down to one for the second National League Wild Card spot.

 

Diamondbacks 9, Cubs 0

PHOENIX -- It's either feast or famine for the Chicago Cubs. Wednesday night's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks was famine as the Cubs could muster only one hit, a single by Addison Russell.

Arizona's Robbie Ray struck out eight during his six inning stint and three other pitchers held the Cubs in check.

Arizona took a 4-0 first inning lead and finished with 12 hits in the game.

The Cubs will now have a day off still holding onto a 2 1/2 game lead in the National League Central over Milwaukee. The Cubs are 89-63 on the season.
