BSE Beats CHBC in EIC Tourney, Area Baseball

VANDALIA -- Brownstown/St. Elmo bounced Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Tuesday, 14-4.

The game ended in the sixth inning via the 10-run rule. BSE took a 2-0 first inning lead. CHBC took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third but BSE scored two in the bottom of the frame and was never headed again.

Nick Rosborough had two singles, a double and an RBI for the winners while Jace McWhorter had three singles and three RBI, Alex Higgs a single and double and Bryton Pruett and Wyatt Chandler a double each. Chandler drove in two runs. BSE is 5-7 on the season.

CHBC was led by B. Lowry with two singles and N. Miller with a single and two RBI.

In the second game, Mulberry Grove blanked Ramsey, 11-0.

Mulberry Grove leads the tournament with a 2-0 record followed by BSE 1-1, CHBC 1-1 and Ramsey 0-2. The tourney will come to a close Thursday with Mulberry Grove against CHBC at 4:15 and BSE taking on Ramsey at 7.

South Central tallied a National Trail Conference win over Altamont Tuesday, 11-6.

The Cougars stepped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and Altamont couldn't come back despite out-hitting South Central 10-9.

The Cougars were led by H. Brandt with two singles, a double and five RBI and S. Cowger with a single, double and an RBI.

Altamont was led by Jacob Robbins with two singles and a double and Connor Reardon with a home run and two RBI.

Dieterich took a 3-0 second inning lead and blanked Cisne, 10-0 in action Tuesday.

M. Hunzinger threw a no-hitter for the Movin' Maroons with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

C. Niebrugge led the Movin' Maroons with a double while Hunzinger added two singles and two RBI.
