Dieterich Downs Neoga in Non-Conference Action Thursday; Other Thursday Action

Dieterich defeated Neoga 5-2 Thursday in a non-conference baseball contest.

The Movin Maroons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, added three runs in the third and tacked on a run in the fourth to lead 5-0 before Neoga scored twice in the sixth.

Hunzinger got the win for Dieterich, pitching one-hit shutout ball for five innings with five walks and 11 strikeouts. Gephart gave up the two runs in his inning with one hit and two walks against one strikeout. Will pitched a shutout inning with two hits and two walks.

Banning took the loss for Neoga, allowing four runs in three innings of work, allowing four hits and five walks. Lanham pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk. In an oddity, the Neoga pitchers recorded no strikeouts.

Dieterich is now 5-5 on the fall, with a 3-3 NTC record.

Brownstown/St. Elmo edged Ramsey 2-1 Thursday.

The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning. Ramsey tied the game in the top of the 7th, but BSE bounced back with a run in the bottom of the frame to win the game.

Bryton Pruett got the win, working around 10 hits and three walks and struck out three.

At the plate for BSE: Bryton Pruett was 1-for-4; Nate Philpot 1-for-3 with a RBI; Caleb Atwood 2-for-3 including a double and a RBI.

BSE improved to 4-5 for the fall, 2-0 in EIC action.

Mulberry Grove won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 6-4 in an eight-inning game Thursday.

Swain got the win, while Miller took the loss. Silas Buzzard started the game for CHBC and pitched four innings, allowing just one run.
