St. Anthony Outlasts Sullivan, Teutopolis Downs Effingham Wednesday

St. Anthony won a wild one Wednesday, 13-11 over Sullivan.

St. Anthony led 7-1 headed to the bottom of the sixth, and that's when things got wild. The Redskins scored three times to make it 7-4. 

The Bullpups responded with six runs in the seventh to take a 13-4 lead. Sullivan wasn't done, though, scoring seven times in the bottom of the seventh before St. Anthony finally got the last out secured to claim the win.

G. Sehy got the win with five innings of four-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run while walking three and fanning five. M. Martelli pitched 1-2/3 innings, allowing 10 runs, but just one earned run, on six hits with one strikeout. E. Levitt got the final out, allowing one hit.

Teutopolis downed Effingham 11-1 in a five-inning game Wednesday.

Effingham scored in the top of the second but T-Town scored twice in the bottom of the frame. Five more runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth gave the Wooden Shoes the win.

D. Niemerg got the win, allowing an unearned run on four hits with no walks and a strikeout.

Raddatz and Maxedon pitched for Effingham, with Raddatz taking the loss. Raddatz went 3-2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and six walks with one strikeout. Maxedon pitched an inning, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks with a strikeout.

At the plate for Teutopolis: Bloemer doubled and singled and walked, with 3 RBI; Schwerdt homered and walked twice, scored twice and drove in four runs; C. Also Wednesday in junior high baseball action, Sacred Heart defeated Brownstown/St. Elmo 12-1. Josh McDevitt was the winning pitcher going all five innings giving up one hit and striking out 12. McDevitt also hit three home runs and had a RBI single. Lohman singled and drove in a run; Boyajian singled and drove in a run; and Biggs singled and drove in two runs
