Altamont Downs St. Anthony in Saturday Action; Other Weekend Scores

Despite a late Bulldogs comeback, the Altamont Indians defeated St. Anthony 7-5 Saturday at Paul Smith Field at Community Park in Effingham.

Altamont took the early lead with a run in the first, two runs in the third, and four runs in the fourth to lead 7-0.

The Bulldogs scored three times in the fifth inning and twice in the sixth inning, but the rally fell short and Altamont secured the win.

The Indians outhit the Bulldogs seven to six. Each team committed two errors.

Noah Teasley got the win, allowing three runs, all unearned, in 4-2/3 innings, walking six and giving up three hits while fanning four. Alec Biggs got an out, then J. Hammer pitched the final two innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Kaden Fearday took the loss for St. Anthony, allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter in 3-1/3 innings. Gavin Braunecker pitched the final 3-2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out five.

A JV game followed the varsity game, with St. Anthony winning 14-1.

Jack Hoene got the win with Antrim, Moore and Walsh also pitching. Robbins and Stuemke pitched for Altamont, with Robbins taking the loss.

Reardon and Robbins singled for Altamont, and Kopplin scored Altamont's run.

Teutopolis, North Clay and Cobden all traveled to Webber Township High School Saturday for baseball action. As Teutopolis Coach Justin Fleener said, "This was not a tourney, just teams playing games."

Teutopolis shutout Cobden 6-0. Mitch Hemmen pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out 12 while not walking a batter.

Teutopolis beat Webber 13-3 in a five-inning game. Bushur and Ruholl pitched, Sam Bushur the first four innings and picking up the win, allowing an unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts against zero walks; Ruholl the final inning, allowing two unearned runs on two hits.

Also Saturday, North Clay beat Webber 19-4, and North Clay downed Cobden 7-3.
