Effingham blanked Charleston 2-0 in junior high baseball action Thursday.

The Mustangs tallied a single run in the third and a run in the sixth.

Donaldson picked up the win going 6 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and two walks. G. Wolfe came on for the save going 2/3 inning, allowing no hits and two walks.

Raddatz, Waymoth, Wolfe and Donaldson had two singles each. Donaldson added an RBI.

The Mustangs are now 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the Apollo Conference.

At Charleston

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony bounced Neoga to the tune of 13-3 Thursday.

The Bullpups led 4-1 after two innings and 8-3 after three. C. Wines had three singles and four RBI while Walsh had two singles, a double and an RBI. W. Hoene had a single, double and two RBI and G. Sehy chipped in with a double and two RBI.

Neoga was led by Malachi Staszak with two hits.

At Altamont

Altamont Lutheran Inter-Parish seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion Thursday, thanks to a single by Lucas Shepard in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The two squads were tied at 1-1 in the first inning. The Rockets edged ahead 2-1 in the fourth but Vandalia tied in the fifth. The game then went extra innings.

Nathan Stuemke earned the win for the Rockets. He went 4 1/3 innings, allowing no runs, one hit and striking out three.

Altamont Lutheran racked up 11 hits on the day. Mason Robinson, Logan Cornett, L. Shepard and Nathan Shepard all managed mutiple hits. Robinson led with three hits in five at-bats. Cornett and N. Shepard had a single and double each. Cornett added an RBI. L. Shepard had two singles and an RBI.

At Altamont

Salem Franklin Park edged Teutopolis, 6-5 in action Thursday.

Both teams had seven hits in the game. Franklin Park had three errors while T-town had two.

C. Bloemer had a solo home run while B. Goeckner had three singles and an RBI and E. Waldhoff a double and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes led 3-0 in the top of the third but Franklin Park tallied four in the bottom of the frame. T-town tied at 4-4 in the fourth but Franklin Park scored two more in the fifth. T-town tallied one more in the top of the seventh.

Altamont played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and was a 12-3 winner to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Altamont stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then tacked on three more in the second and third innings and in the fifth.

Phillips had a single, triple and an RBI for the winners while Hammer and Rippetoe had two singles and two RBI each.

Gage Lorton had a double and two RBI for CHBC (2-7).

Jasper County edged Marshall, 9-7 in action Thursday.

Carder Reich picked up the pitching win. Owen Mahaffey had two singles and a double for the winners while Dalton Baltzell had three singles and Issac Flowers a double.

Jasper County is now 10-2 on the season.
