ST. LOUIS -- It's finally beginning to click. The St. Louis Cardinals are finding their hitting stride and Paul DeJong proved that with a ninth inning walk-off home run that gave the Redbirds a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals at Busch Stadium Monday.

Talking over his swing with teammate Harrison Bader, the two figured out some things along with the rest of the Cardinals lineup. Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter provided eighth inning shots that brought the Cardinals back from a 4-2 deficit to move ahead 6-4. Gyorko's was a solo shot while Carpenter produced a two-run blow.

The Nationals came back with two runs in the top of the ninth before DeJong's homer. St. Louis had 17 hits in the contest with three of those the home runs. Miles Mikolas and Bader produced a double each. Jose Martinez provided four singles and Marcell Ozuna two singles and an RBI. Kolten Wong also had two singles.

The Cardinals are now only two games out of a Wild Card spot and they're sitting five games behind the Cubs.

DeJong not only was the offensive hero but saved a run with a diving stop and double play in the eighth.

Yankees' Sabathia On DL

The New York Yankees have placed pitcher CC Sabathia on the 10-day disabled list with right knee inflammation. The move came just one day after Sabathia pitched six-innings of shutout ball against the Texas Rangers.

Jansen Sidelined With Irregular Heartbeat

Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen says he expects to come off the disabled list within the next few weeks, despite being sidelined with an irregular heartbeat. Jansen says he plans to undergo a second heart surgery in the offseason.
