Teutopolis Junior High School hosted Effingham and Mount Zion in round robin boys baseball Saturday.

In game one, Effingham edged Mount Zion, 6-5. Mount Zion held a 5-3 lead after four innings but the Mustangs came through with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.

Waymoth, Wolfe and Maxedon combined to throw a no-hitter. Waymoth went three innings allowing five runs, two earned and eight walks. Wolfe picked up the win, going three innings, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out three.  Maxedon went one inning, allowing one walk and striking out two.

Fox, Hull and Raddatz had a double each for the winners.

Teutopolis defeated Mount Zion, 6-5. There were no statistics reported.

The Wooden Shoes then blanked Efifngham 10-0. T-town tallied four in the second and fifth and two in the sixth.

T-town had nine hits led by Siemer with a single and a three-run homer. He finished with four RBI. Bloemer had three singles, Lustig with a single and double and Siemer a double.

Effingham had two singles by Verdeyen and Raddatz.

At Altamont

Jasper County captured first place at the Altamont Opening Day Tournament Saturday.

In the opener, Altamont downed Dieterich, 3-1. The second game went to Jasper County over Brownstown/St. Elmo, 11-0. Brownstown/St. Elmo won over Dieterich, 6-1.

Jasper County then blanked Altamont, 2-0. Jasper County won over Dieterich 8-4 and Altamont finished out with a 9-3 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo.

Jasper County won with a 3-0 record followed by  Altamont 2-1, Brownstown/St. Elmo 1-2 and Dieterich 0-3.

 

At Charleston

Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Charleston and fell to the homestanders in Friday action, 5-3.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 in the first inning. Charleston then scored three in the third. St. Anthony scored another run in the top of the seventh.

The Bullpups were led in hitting by L. Fearday with a single, double and an RBI.

Neoga handed Kansas a 12-1 loss in Saturday competition.

Trey Sheehan had three hits for the winners while Micah Staszak added two hits.

Bryar Hennesay was the winning pitcher.

Neoga then fell to Casey-Westfield 5-0. Neoga had three singles by Malachi Staszak, Hennesay and Micah Staszak.

At Kansas
