Altamont, Neoga, T-town Nab Baseball Regional Crowns

Altamont claimed the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Regional championship.

WINDSOR -- Altamont tallied two runs in the top of the sixth inning that gave the Indians a 5-3 win over Effingham St. Anthony in the Class 1A Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Baseball Regional championship Saturday.

The Indians took a 1-0 first inning lead then added on two runs in the second. St. Anthony tallied three to tie the score in the fifth.

Altamont had nine hits, four of them extra base hits. Dawson Guerrettaz had a home run and two RBI while Dakota Kuhlman had a single and double, Alek Biggs a single, double and an RBI, Kolby Pemberton a double and Noah Kopplin two singles.

The winning pitcher was Kaleb Whitt who went four innings, allowed three hits, three runs, three walks and struck out seven. Pemberton came on to throw the final throw the final three innings, allowing no hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

St. Anthony managed only three hits and was led by Dylan Guy with a home run and two RBI and Austin Kline with a double.

Altamont advances to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday and will take on Odin at 6 p.m. The opening game will feature Neoga against either North Clay (Louisville) or  Woodlawn at 4 p.m.

Class 1A Dieterich Regional

Neoga held Dieterich to one first inning run and claimed a 5-1 victory for the Dieterich Regional championship Saturday.

Dieterich tallied one in the first but Neoga came back with a four-run second and tacked on another run in the fourth.

The Indians had eight hits in the contest led by Adam Fearday with two singles. Drew Ramert, Lane Andrews and Wood had an RBI single each.

Dieterich was led by Evan Bohnhoff and Devin Flach with two singles each. Callaway Campton had an RBI single.

Evan Fritcher threw a six-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis broke a 3-3 tie with a four-run third. Robinson tied at 7-7 in the top of the sixth but the Wooden Shoes scored seven in the bottom of the frame to break open the game and win its own regional, 14-7 Saturday.

The Shoes had 12 hits while Robinson committed four errors. Jackson Goeckner had a single, home run and four RBI while Lee Hardiek had two singles, a double and two RBI. Mitch Hemmen had two singles, a double and two RBI and Eric Kremer and Drew Thoele had a double each.

Kremer (6-0-1) was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, allowing 11 hits, one walk and striking out 15.

The Shoes improve to 26-6 on the season, Robinson ends its season at 14-14.  T-town will be back in action Wednesday at the Flora Sectional against the Alton Marquette/Belleville Althoff winner. The second game will feature Staunton against either Newton or Greenville. That game was postponed until Monday.

Class 1A South Central Regional

Odin edged host South Central, 6-5 to claim the championship of the South Central Regional Saturday.

The Cougars took a 2-0 first inning lead but Odin came back with four runs in the third. South Central moved ahead in the top of the fourth 5-4 but Odin tallied two in the bottom of the frame.

Odin had eight hits led by Roberts with a solo home run and Nix with a single, home run and two RBI. Friend added a single, double and an RBI.

South Central was led by Dodson with a solo home run, Ryan Matheny with two singles and two RBI and Logan Lotz with a double.

Odin advances to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional  Wednesday and will meet Altamont at 6 p.m. The opening game at 4 will feature Neoga against either North Clay (Louisville) or Woodlawn who meet today for the championship of the Woodlawn Regional.

North Clay (Louisville) vs. Woodlawn in the Class 1A Woodlawn Regional championship was postponed to Monday at 4:30 p.m.

In the Class 2A Vandalia Regional championship, Newton vs. Greenville was postponed until Monday at 4:30 p.m.
