SAN DIEGO -- Miles Mikolas went 6 2/3 innings and guided the St. Louis Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the San Diego Patres Thursday at Petco Park.

Mikolas improved to 5-0 on the season allowing one run, five hits, a walk while striking out four.

Also the Redbirds saw the return of Tommy Pham who was out four games because of a groin injury. He had two hits and scored both of the Cardinals runs. In the fifth inning, Pham knocked out a home run into the left field seats and that gave the Cardinals their 2-0 lead.

He singled in the first inning then took second and third on a wild pitch and passed ball. Jose Martinez hit a fly ball and Pham scored as the Cardinals led 1-0.

The Patres' run came on a homer by Raffy Lopez.

Boston's Price Won't Play Video Game

Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price says video games aren’t the cause of his carpal tunnel syndrome, but he added that he won't play "Fortnite" in the clubhouse again to avoid the distraction it’s caused. Price hasn’t pitched since May 3, but is set to start Friday at Toronto.
