Effingham High School had a big baseball weekend, taking three victories Friday and Saturday.

The Hearts defeated Flora in non-conference action Friday, 6-2. The Hearts took a 2-0 first inning lead then had a three-run third.

EHS had eight hits led by Mason Hull with two singles and a double.

Ben Meinhart, Kendall Ballman and Cooper Jackson combined for a three-hitter. Meinhart picked up the win allowing one run, one hit, one walk and striking out one.

The Hearts swept an Apollo Conference doubleheader Saturday.

EHS won the opener 15-1 in five innings. The Hearts tallied seven in the third, three in the fourth and finished out with five in the fifth.

Hull picked up the pitching win going 4.1 innigns, allowing one run, no hits and striking out seven. Brayton Poland finished out, allowing one hit.

Hull aided his own cause with a single, two home runs and seven RBI. Brayton Poland added two singles, a double and an RBI while Brett Koester had a isngle, doubel and an RBI and Kendall Ballman and Cooper Jackson had two singles and an RBI each.

In the second contest, the Hearts were 14-0 winners in five innings. Zack Lee went three innings, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out seven for the win.

The Hearts had 10 hits led by Lohman with a single, home run and three RBI while Poland had a single, double and two RBI and Lohman had three singles and two RBI. Seachrist and Ballman added a double and an RBI each.

The Hearts also swept a junior varsity doubleheader.

EHS won the opener 3-1 scoring the winning run in the top of the seventh.Lee had two singles and an RBI while Utz, Kalber and WAldhoff had a dobule each. Waldhoff added an RBI.

In the second contest, EHS was a 12-3 winner. The Hearts opened with a 3-1 first inning lead and never looked back.

Pemberton had two singles, a triple and an RBI while Utz had three singles, a double and two RBI. Cunningham and Thompson had a double each. Thompson had two RBI and Cunningham one RBI.

At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Sullivan a 7-3 loss in Friday action.

Sullivan held a 3-0 lead until the fourth when the Hatchets cut loose for five runs and tacked on two more in the fifth.

Christian Kessler had two doubles while Isaac Kramer added a single and double. Riley Walden had two singles and drove in two runs.

Kessler was the winning pitcher on a six-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts.

Altamont claimed a 7-1 victory over Dieterich in Friday play.

The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a four-run third and then single runs in the fourth and sixth.

Kaleb Whitt was the winning pitcher going six innings, allowing three hits, four walks and striking out nine.

Whitt also had two singles and a double while Jacob Robbins had a single, double, triple and three RBI. Alex Biggs had two singles and an RBI and Noah Teasley a double.

Dieterich was led by Devin Flach with a double.

Teutopolis picked up a 2-0 win over South  Central Friday to improve to 18-5 on the season.

The Wooden Shoes took a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied one more in the sixth. Lee Hardiek threw a four-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts.

T-town had six hits led by Eric Kremer with a single, double and an RBI and Hardiek with two singles.

At St. Anthony

In a junior varsity contest Friday, St. Anthony outlasted Charleston, 11-10 in eight innings.

Both teams had the same hits as they had runs. Hoene led the Bulldogs with four singles and an RBI while Moore had two singles and three RBI and Fearday a double.
