NEOGA -- Neoga took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Effingham struck back with three in the third and went on for an 8-2 high school baseball victory Tuesday.

The Hearts outhit Neoga, 12-6. Mason Hull had a single, double, home run and three RBI while Brett Koester added a single and double. Ryan Sandifer and Zack Lee had two singles each. Sandifer added two RBI and Lee one.

Neoga was led by Caleb Hill with a solo home run and Butler with a double.

Hull picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out seven.

At Neoga

North Clay (Louisville) and South Central were tied at 1-1, sending the game into the eighth.

That's where the Cardinals tallied three runs. South Central came back with two in the bottom of the frame, but fell short.

Quincy Aldrich had two singles, a double and three RBI for the winners while Jordan Bloemer had two singles and an RBI.

South Central was led by Hunter Brandt with three singles, Ryan McCown with a single and double, Daniel Roberts with a single and double, Aaron Patten with two singles and Trent Geiler with a double and an RBI.

At Kinmundy

Altamont ended this contest in the sixth inning over Ramsey, 11-0.

The Indians' Kolby Pemberton picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowng two hits, no walks and striking out nine. Wyatt Vaughn threw the final two innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out four.

Dakota Kuhlman led in hitting with three singles, a double and four RBI. Noah Teasley added a single, double and an RBI.

Altamont improves to 4-6 on the season.

At St. Elmo

Dieterich's Briar Schmidt threw a one-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts as the Movin' Maroons downed St. Elmo/Brownstown, 17-0 in five innings Tuesday.

Bryce McClain came on in the final inning, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out one.

The Maroons banged out 13 hits in the contest led by Schmidt with two singles, a double and one RBI and Callaway Campton with two singles, a triple and four RBI. Devin Flach added two singles while Evan Bohnhoff had a double and three RBI.

The lone hit for SEB was a single by Pruett.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on to down Cumberland, 9-4 Tuesday.

Christian Kessler went 6.67 innings, allowing six hits, four runs, one walk and struck out eight for the pitching win.

Isaac Kramer had a single, home run and three RBI for the winners while Alex Talley had three singles and Chase Thies two singles and two RBI.

Cumberland was led by Michael Flier with two singles and two RBI, Brayson Shew two singles and an RBI and Justin Brown a double.

Newton blanked Red HIll (Bridgeport) 10-0 in five innings Tuesday.

The Eagles had a two-run second, a five-run third and a three-run fourth. They banged out 16 hits in the game led by Bierman with three singles and two RBI, Frohning with a single, double and an RBI, Galloway a single, double and four RBI, Wagy two doubles and Stark two singles and an RBI.

Cohorst threw a four-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts.
