Dieterich, South Central Nab Baseball Wins

MARTINSVILLE -- Twenty was the number for Dieterich High School in baseball action Friday.

The Movin' Maroons blasted out 20 hits and scored 20 runs in a 20-1 victory over Martinsville in five innings.

Seven players had two or more hits for the Maroons. Cole Niebrugge had four singles and an RBI while Evan Bohnhoff had three singles and three RBI. Briar Schmidt added three singles and an RBI. Paul Thoele had a single, home run and three RBI while Matthew Hunzinger had a single, double and four RBI. Callaway Campton added a single, double and four RBI. Bryce McClain had two singles and an RBI.

Devin Flach went three innings, allowing five hits, one run, two walks and striking out five in picking up the pitching win.

At Farina

North Clay (Louisville) stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and finished out with a 7-0 win over South Central.

The game was opening round play in the South Central Wooden Bat Tournament. Unfortunately, Saturday's action was rained out.

The Cardinals had 12 hits in the game led by Tyson Jones with two singles, a double and two RBI, Jordan Bloemer with a single, double and an RBI, Brandon Weber with two singles and an RBI, Luke Fleener with two singles, Reese Blank with a double and an RBI and Quincy Aldrich with a double.

South Central had only two hits, singles by Trent Geiler and Blomberg.

Bloemer was the winning pitcher throwing a two-hitter with one walk and 17 strikeouts.

At Kinmundy

At Breese

Breese Mater Dei downed Teutopolis 6-2 in action Friday.

Mater Dei stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and tacked on the other two runs in the second. T-town scored both runs in the top of the third.

Mater Dei had nine hits while T-town committed two errors.

T-town had six hits led by Eric Kremer with two doubles and an RBI and Jackson Goeckner with a double.

Cumberland edged Oblong, 2-1 in Friday action.

The Pirates scored two runs in the top of the ninth. Oblong scored its lone run in the bottom of that frame.

Justin Brown picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out seven.

Brown had a single and an RBI.
